A Character Concept I painted during my work placement at Creative Assembly earlier this year!
-
During my final year at university I had the amazing opportunity to work on a character design project during a placement at Creative Assembly. It was so much fun and I learnt so many new things! I’m so excited to finally post the finished design. Thank you to Beth Hobbs, for your amazing mentorship during those two weeks, I learnt so much.

Here is the work I produced! My task was to create a solider character concept from the Ming Dynasty, someone loyal and fearless who leads battering ram charges. For this reason, I decided I wanted to incorporate the ram into his design, the chest plate was the best place to show off his important title. I added lots of layers of handmade armour on top of the classical Ming Dynasty soldier armour, as well as a warm animal hide for extra protection in battle. In his hands, he holds his trophy token, gifted by his emporer.

As well as the final illustration, I created a breakdown sheet detailing the characters multiple layers of clothing and items.
I recently came back to these piece after my work placement to make some changes and I'm really pleased with the final outcome!
